tooth removal

I deveoped an abcess at easter on the roots of a tooth with a root canal and crown, my main question is wether the tooth has to be removed as my dentist advises.
I have had a rough time recently as out dentist went private leaving us without for 18 months, we are now with a forigen dentist who doesnt say much, i am nervous and could do to know she is human:rolleyes: you see.
The bridge that i have had for 6 years on the other side cracked last year but i couldnt eat on it anyway as the tooth under it had a filling close to the nerve, which i am now told is why it jumped when i ate on it, i had even been to the hospital dentist about 5 years ago and they couldnt see the problem so i just put up with it.
When i got the abcess at the other side i couldnt eat!!, so realised it was time ti sort it out once and for all.
I had the offending tooth and bridge removed three weeks ago, it got infected   despite salt rinses one week of amoxacillin and now a whole week later it still looks infected although is closing up, but i have blisters/infection coming out at the side of my gums.

Should i go back again as she did say infection usually gets better on its own, i am due to have the abcessed crown out in 2 weeks but am not looking forward to it.
any advice may help:rolleyes:

Sometimes you can re-root fill teeth, but it depends how well the root filling was done in the first place, and how big the infection is as to the chances of success.

It would probably be most successful at a specialist endodontist (root filler!) but these guys are all private, and pretty expensive.

If the infected socket seems to be improving, there's not much to be gained by going back, especially as you will be there again in a couple of weeks anyway.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

the abcess was at easter and after antibiotics has got completly better, no sign to me that it was ever there, does it really need messing with now?

Only the symptoms have got better.

The abscess is still there - waiting for day one of a holiday, or an important occasion!!!

They know when they are!! :D
