New TC Claim

Hi there, has anyone recently made a joint CTC & WTC claim? And can you tell me how long it's currently taking.
My brother and his partner have put in a claim, and were wondering how long it should take. TC say 3 weeks as a guideline, but apparently he's been reading horror stories about it taking several months as they have no targets etc.
If anyone has recently claimed and could let me know how long from posting the form to payment, I may be able to put his mind at rest.
thanks!

Took my best friend 8 weeks to reclaim. Two of those weeks she was waiting for the form. She has 3 and high child care costs so it has been a nightmare for them. It also was only a small amount backdated and the remainder of the backdate was spread over the weeks payments remaining in the year. It's left them in a real mess as they borrowed and now don't have it to give back. There claim was awarded just last week x0

Oh dear
my brother's is WTC & CTC, no childcare, one child. Hopefully the lack of childcare will stop it being held back.
As an aside, when tax credits did that to me a few years back, I got my MP involved who sent them a letter, and they agreed to pay the amount that should have been backdated as a lump sum, maybe this could help your friend?0 -
Thanks Hun. I have suggested this to her too but her MP hasn't been as helpful.
When I was changing from joint claim to single claim I contacted my MP and it was sorted within a week - I couldn't believe how quickly he acted for me and how quickly HMRC responded to him!0
