Contribution ESA / DLA

Hi,

Just a couple of quick questions I'm sure someone on here will be able to answer, myself and CPN can't find an answer.

I'm on contribution based ESA (in support group) and have just started receiving DLA HRC and LRM. I'm married (he works) and have a child.

1) Does contributions ESA continue when in support group? Or will I go back income related at some point? Obviously dependant on meeting criteria.

2) Are we correct in thinking no severe or enhanced disabled premium is paid with contributions based ESA?

Thanks in advance

CB ESA continues as long as you remain in the support group

There are no enhancements unless you are entitled to means tested top-up (which is unlikely if your OH is working)[/COLOR]

    Thanks in advance

    Hope this helps

You are welcome. I know because I am in a similar situation (CB ESA Support group, not entitled to means tested benefits)

It's a pain in... It's so bloody complicated. Have been waiting for appeal for DLA since Nov, now decided I don't need to go appeal. Great, but no idea why! We get a small amount of HB due to hubby earning a rubbish wage so wasn't sure if it would change amount we get. But they don't seem to know anything until all reassessed in 4 weeks or so.

HB is means tested (even if it is only a small amount). In that case it might be worth phoning DWP and asking if you are entitled to the uplift as you are on means tested benefits (I think it was £30 a week from memory)

This is the number to start a claim 0800 055 66 88 so prob not the right number but they should be able to put you through or give you the phone number.

The increase in DLA won't negatively affect anything as the money is disregarded for means tested benefits, but getting a higher rate DLA may be reflected in a higher allowance for HB (possibly also tax credits if your OH gets tax credits, but I don't have any experience of those benefits, so hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along soon).
