Nationwide - are you supposed to get notice of any charges?

Such as the dates & amounts you will be charged?
I wrote a cheque which bounced. This was April. I've just logged in to my Nationwide account (don't use it much) to notice i'm £14 in the red after a £15 charge to my account, which is related to the cheque.
At no point have i ever had paperwork stating the date & amount that all this will happen on.
In contrast, my brother used an unplanned overdraft (or whatever you call them) with Halifax. They sent him out paperwork telling him the date that they will charge him on & the amount that they will charge him - so he knows on that date he needs to make sure there's enough to cover that charge ... communication = no problem.
Now i'm guessing i'm going to have to stand an additional charge for going into the red as i wasn't told when all this was going to happen.
Or do they not have to inform you?

you were informed when you opened the account via the terms and conditions.0

I had an unplanned overdraft with Nationwide and get a letter. Phoned them up and all they were interested in was when I was going to credit my account, so I sent them a secure message instead and got an instant refund of all charges totalling £50.0

Have you check your paper statements for April and May?
You will normally have a couple of lines there stating how much they are going to charge you.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
T&C's:
"(28 days' notice is given for overdraft fees however, this notice period doesn’t apply to the Monthly Fee)."
So I'd say it doesn't apply to Paid/unpaid item charges.0 -
They will have informed you.0

Did they write to you notifying you of the unpaid cheque, I'd assume you were told either on that letter or on a subsequent statement.0

Ring them up if it is your first charge, explain your story, they may well refund it.
Sorry I don't want to offend, but if you had a cheque bounce then surely you should know there could well be a charge. Would it have been too much out of your way to contact them when the cheque bounced rather than just leaving it?0 -
I was waiting on their contact due to the way Halifax (yes, nobody needs to point out that Halifax is not Nationwide & Nationwide is not Halifax!!) handled the similar situation with my brother.Ring them up if it is your first charge, explain your story, they may well refund it.

As for the first response - it will have been in his T&Cs also. That isn't notice of a date where the charge is being made though. Notice was when they wrote to him & everything was covered due to that contact by them.
Had Nationwide done the same, i'd have funded the account with the appropriate amount for the appropriate date.0 -
