Tax credits calculator wrong??

Hey there,
I am currently on maternity leave and only get smp. Handily my daughter was born on the very last day of the tax year so virtually all of my mat leave will fall into the same tax year. It's my first child so first time claiming.
So I put my details into the HMRC tax credits calculator, taking into account the first £100 a week of my mat pay (which is 33 weeks of the year) isn't considered, plus my predicted earnings when I go back part time in January, which comes to £3700. My partner earns £15,200 so according to the calculator we are entitled to just under £3000 which works out at around £40 a week.
We haven't received the paperwork back yet (I did a claim based on last years earnings and was entitled to no award as expected so now I have called them and told them about my decrease in earnings and gave them my predicted earnings of £3700). So in total we earn £18,900. The figure the calculator gave us matches what the entitlement table also states.
So why have I recieved only £4.83 in my bank today from them? (Bear in mind I am still awaiting paperwork telling me what my award is).

Could it be a a payment you were entitled to?0

best ringing them and asking if that is a one off payment before your new payments start? chances are it will be but it might also be your regular payment. the calc online is only an estimate and can sometimes be out.No One I Think Is In My Tree.:cool:0

Did you take into account the £2,500 disregard. If you think your actual income in 13/14 will be 18,900 you need to use 21,400 in the calculator. (I am presuming your income is lower than 12/13)
It is possible they have just processed the claim and not yet done an amendment based on the estimated earnings. Did you wait until you got your first award notice before you rang with your estimate?

Thanks for the replies, I will give them a call on Monday to see what's going on.
I didn't take into account the £2500 no but I have just re-done it including that and we are still entitled to more than £4.83 a week.
Guess I will just have to wait til Monday to find out what's going on.0 -
Oh and yes IQ I got the paperwork back stating we weren't entitled to any award before I called and told them change of income.0

oh and i often get a one off weird payment ( often a lot less than my normal payment) just as they work out my renewal. Maybe you getting an odd payment means they've sorted your claim out, and the proper amount will be going in soon?0

Well my little one didnt give me much chance to call them today and I didnt receive any paperwork in the post so I am still none the wiser, will have to wait til Monday now but thanks for all the replies. Hoping it was just a random one off payment as I am sure I am entitled to more than that weekly.0
