Child tax credit

Hi all just sent my renewal off few weeks ago no news yet. Just wondering this, usually and not always once final award is given a few extra quid comes my way sort of like a backdated amount. Correct me if im wrong here what im getn paid now is based on year prev?.

Anyways just wondering for this years renewal they only needed our income and they already new we had baby nmbr4 in nov. income slightly down on last years end amount. How do they normally work out these "backdated" amounts. I didnt get much last year but prev years been a nice little lump sum. Just curious from what point of last year until recently, sorry, how do they work it out. Anyway i can work out how much i may get backdated.

Thanks for reading.

  • Without knowing all the details of your claim and income, you may get a one off payment come through at some point during the renewal process. I couldnt guess how much or when as that all depends on your income from last year compared to the estimate that was held on the systems

  • Income iv just gave is 31209.06, 4kids no childcare costs. Currently getting 71.03 per week ctc only. Tax calc says we should be getting £114 per week for this year. Im just wondering if it is £114 per week for this yr does it get backdated at all. As in to nov when 4th child was born or backdated till end of tax yr 2013. A little hundred pound or so would help with school uniforms etc. x
  • Income year b4 that was £33g.
  • Well weird thing. Just checked bank as ctc use goes in sunday night. And instead of £71 there has been £95. I take it no rebate/backdated funds for us. Bummer. Really thought we would get a little but extra. Anyone else had any changes? Xx

Tax credits have changed slightly, they now ignore the first £2,500 drop in your yearly income. Between me and my partner we earned £4000 less in 12/13 compared to the year before, and on Friday I had a payment of £81 and another payment of £21.

I don't get me tax credits til Wednesday so not sure how much my weekly amount has changed yet
