Used stamps

Hello,
Im not sure where I should post this but Im looking to send some used stamps somewhere as we have been collevcting them and now do not know what to do with them.

Does anyone know of a charity who could put them to good use?

Thank you

    Hi,

I know the Salvation Army used to collect used stamps to sell for wind up radios to give to poor people abroad. The last time I donated was around six months ago though.

Most charity shops will glady accept them though.

I always save mine and I ask for ones from work as there is always someone who will benefit from them

I save mine for Naomi House children's hospice in Hampshire. Guide Dogs for the Blind and Amnesty International also take them.

I'm pretty sure this is the last year Guide Dogs for the Blind are accepting them, it may even have been last year. There was a large thread on this a while back with names of loads of charities that accepted them but I can't seem to find it :(

Our local church collects them for various charities - maybe try yours. Ha ha, no I'm not recruiting, you don't usually need to go further than just inside the door :D

  • Our local Oxfam shop accept them, then either bag them up to sell or use for other fund raising purposes. I just take an envelope full into the shop every so often - the sales assisstant is always very pleased to get them.

Bransby home for horses in Lincs collect them. Whats interesting is what happens to them........They get sold on in boxes to stamp dealers who then pick through them and take out all the unfranked ones and sell them for around 60 - 80% of the face value making hundreds of pounds profit and just dump the used ones.....So a little tip is make sure you don't put any unfranked ones in there lol.

That would never happen here. The most exciting thing about the post is finding an unfranked stamp!!
