How will Universal Credits affect me

I have a couple of buy to let properties and am wondering how Universal Credit will affect me.
I have no housing benefit tenants at the moment but that may change.

Local housing allowance - NOT housing benefit (HB is social landlords, LHA is private. Best off speaking to your local council, and reading the gov.uk guidelines to clarify; maybe even the CAB.

The LHA will be paid to your tenants monthly and they will pay it to you, this is probably what happens now unless you have vulnerable tenants.

  • LH will be paid directly to the tenant and not the landlord so it will be the tenants responsibility to pay the rent to the landlord

i think this is a stupid t rule they have brought out through as some people i can see dipping into there rent just to get by when times are hard

If they do then they will suffer the consequences won't they. We are talking about adults here, if they can't manage to pay their own rent then they have real issues. There will be different arrangements for vulnerable adults.

Yeah, like being unemployed in a 'recession'.

We are going off topic but keeping a roof over your head should be the priority for any household, single or otherwise. People just need to get their priorities right (in general).
