Cheap Baby Bedding

I have just bought a secondhand Moses basket off Ebay, and now I need to buy a new mattress and sheets and blankets. Anyone know any CHEAP places (either Internet or High Street) to buy them? I have been checking out EbAY, but I'm in a bit of a hurry now cos baby is due next week!! I just want basic cotton blankets/sheets, no fancy themes or anything, though preferably a choice of colours.

Thanks!

When i was looking for baby bedding (and was shocked by the Mothercare prices) my mum in law bought some very nice/cheap and good quality sheets/blankets etc in Dunelm Mill shops... they had lots of stuff at good prices.. She lives in Yorkshire so dont' know if there are some everywhere....
    Good luck with the baby...

For a quick fix a pillowcase can be used as an under sheet! Some actually fit over the mattress.
Not really applicable if time is of the essence, but my Mum made all my baby bedlinen (including cots) by cutting down full-size sheets and blankets and hemming them. As long as you have a nice blanket or quilt to put on top, it doesn't really show what's underneath (and what with spills, leaks and possetting you just need loads of cheap, washable stuff!)

i've seen bedding cheap in matalan, ethel austin, etc. there's also argos additions if you can wait for them to set up an account and deliver to you. do you have an account with redoute? they've sent out new £10 off codes recently. babies r us might be worth a try but i didn't find ours any cheaper than mothercare. kiddicare.com looks cheap for mattresses, not sure about delivery though as i haven't used them yet.

you could maybe just buy one sheet, then when relatives ask you what they should buy for your baby tell them you want moses basket bedding lol!

I have used pillowcases as moses basket sheets. Much much easier than trying to tuck under a bulky sheet under the tiny mattress. Also, for the amount of use you'll get from a pillowcase afterwards outweighs a basket size sheet.

    www.datoys.co.uk have moses mattress's from £8.

I have used Kiddicare.com and I can vouch for their speedy delivery, however they use a company similar to city link, so if your out during delivery be prepared to have to go to a local (which may not be so local) depot to collect.

Good luck with the coming weeks, and do let us know how things go and what you have.;)

Tesco do a range of bedding from pram and moses baskets to cot bed...as a guide the fitted sheet for the cot bed was £5.00 and is lovely and soft
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)
  • Wilkinsons do a nice range. Also Asda have lots of brill bargains. My cot sheets and moses sheets were less than 2 pounds each!
