Adviser sent me job outside my agreed hours

I am a lone parent claiming JSA, the rules state that I am allowed to look for work within schools hours. My job seekers agreement states I have to look for work 9am-3pm.

My adviser has sent me a job that is 8.30am - 1.30pm. As it happens I had already applied for this as I appreciate to find work between 9-3 is going to be virtually impossible. I was told by another adviser that any jobs I applied for that weren't mandated I didn't have to follow up if I didn't want to. Now I have officially been sent this job I will have to follow it through, my concern is I don't know where the job is its just 'company confidential' The nursery opens at 8 so if it is less than 1/2 hr away from there then no problem but further than this I wont be able to do it as I have no one to help with childcare. By me applying off my own back if I do get an interview and it is too far away I am within my rights to say thanks but unfortunately I wont be able to attend.
Now as I have been sent the job by the adviser if I get an interview and offered the job it looks like I will have to take it, I just hope it is within 1/2hr journey time.

Is an adviser allowed to send me a job that is outside the agreed hours and do I have to attend interview if the job is further than 1/2 from nursery.

I appreciate this is all speculation, I might not even get an interview but just wondered where I stand if i do.

Wouldn't the best thing be to follow through - and if you get the job AND the location isn't practical and you have to decline it -THEN bring it up ?

Fair point, maybe, but I would like to know where I stand if that does happen, just wondered what others opinions were on this and if it is normal to get jobs sent to you that are outside the hours stated on your job seekers agreement.

If it's clearly not possible and it's not within the agreement I would think that you were "safe" and the fact that you have applied would surely go in your favour; not having dismissed the idea.

But in the event of any issue arising, you'd need to spell it out when giving your reasons as you might not get a similarly 'reasonable' official reaction.

Worth considering that as you have actually applied on the basis that it might be do-able, there might be a case for amending the agreed hours to an 8.30 start if the workplace was close.

If it is not possible for you to get there on time, then you will not be sanctioned if you do not apply. However I would agree with duchy, it would seem reasonable to expect you to apply for this - even if you cannot get there by 8.30, the employer may allow some flexibility for the right candidate.
