The web address of the Gardening board has now been changed from https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/greenfingered-moneysaving to https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/gardening so that it is in line with the board's current name. Don't worry though, the old address will still redirect you here, but it's worth updating it in your saved links or browser favourites.

Hi All,
I checked my Hotbin this morning and found these seedlings growing, they look like some kind of pumpkin seed/melon seed etc - does anyone have any idea what they could be and if I could potentially lift them from the compost and plant them up?

I have no idea what they are... what did you put in?
As for rescuing them, I wouldn't. They are rather etiolated from lack of light, you don't know what they are and whatever they are, they may not breed true.
But, I admire your MSE skills. I admit to rescuing plants from the tip when I recycle my garden waste, I always look at what someone else is tipping... got a lovely different Aucuba from someone's waste cuttings ..0 -

The only thing I can think they can be is galia melon seeds and I haven't put anything else in there?
