The web address of the Gardening board has now been changed from https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/greenfingered-moneysaving to https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/gardening so that it is in line with the board's current name. Don't worry though, the old address will still redirect you here, but it's worth updating it in your saved links or browser favourites.

You will want some height, the plants in the above link are mostly not very tall.
A good combo is wegeila red ruby, nxt to Philadelphus ,( many varieties) - has a wonderful scent in spring and looks fab next to the red .
Viburnum tinus, will grow big and fill a good space.
Prunus luscitanica variagated is lovely, but NOT the green prunus as its too big and very uninteresting.
honeysuckle or white jasmine can cover the fences nicely.0 -
my north-facing fence is covered with a clematis montana which is in full bloom now but dies down over winter. I also have a pyracantha, evergreen but with horrendous spines, need to wear gardening gloves. They have fluffy white flowers now and coloured berries later, you can get red, yellow or orange berry plants.0
