son going to uni will i lose some housing benefit

Hi
I wandered if anyone knows if i will lose any of my housing benefit when my son starts uni in sep,he is 18 yrs old and doing a 2 yr full time course ,he will be applying for student loans and grants so he can go, my husband is on esa . tried to look on internet for the answer but cannot find anything.he will be living at home when he goes to uni .

Your housing benefit will remain the same as your son is a full time student living at home.
However, you should contact your local council and advise them that your son will be a full time student living at home and ask them if you have to provide any evidence of this.
If you do not do this then they may make a non dependent deduction and in the absence of any contact from you will make a deduction at the highest rate as if he was working.
You should get a letter asking about change of circumstances now your son has left full time education but mistakes do happen so I would advise them asap.0 -

Sorry to say that this calculator does not have the facility to deal with students in higher education.0 -
As soon as you receive the course outline and enrolment take it to your LA as soon as possible.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0
