Moving from contribution based to income based JSA

Hello

I took voluntary redundancy from the company I have worked for, for 20+ years at the end of March. I got about £32000 payout, which I have used to pay off my mortgage. I'm currently looking for a job, but I'm finding it hard due to 1) there are lot of jobs advertised but more than 100 people going for most of them and 2) I have health problems which severely narrows down the number of jobs that would be possible for me to do. I was previously confident that I would find something within the six months that I'm allowed to claim contribution-based JSA, but as the weeks go by I am starting to look ahead and worry about what will happen at the end of the six months.

At the mo, I'm getting £71.40 CB JSA, and my partner, who is self-employed and at the mo isn't earning enough to pay tax, is getting £75 a week working tax credits.

So what will happen at the end of the six months and I have to claim IB JSA? My savings will be less than £6000 by then, but will they take into the account the fact that I got a payout of over £30k six months previously, even though I no longer have the money? How long do they still take this money into account?

Also, would the fact that my partner is working, even though his earnings are v low , stop me getting IB JSA?

I have looked at various pages on the JSA website but cannot find an answer to these questions. I'd be v grateful if anyone can help, I'm started to get quite anxious about this.

Regardless of your savings you will not be entitled to JSA IB because your partner is working, as long as he is working over 16hrs it makes no difference that he is a low earner. If he is claiming working tax credits presumably they know you are currently receiving JSA? You will need to notify them when this stops but it may not make a difference to how much he gets.
