Off peak return or off peak day return??
There's a Derbyshire Wayfarer ticket that can be useful - though difficult to buy
http://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/transport_roads/public_transport/tickets_passes/rover_tickets/derbyshire_wayfarer/default.asp
It means splitting at Sheffield and Burton on Trent0 -
Do you have a particular date in mind as if booked far enough in advance it's £10. Picking random August dates gives £17 via Doncaster.
You could also consider travelling via Manchester starting at Todmorden - you use your pass for the trip to Todmorden0 -
i go most weekends to birmingham off peak return0

what combinations and what website do use you to get it as cheap as £10?0

All train booking websites will offer those fares.
I just used https://www.southernrailway.com and can see £10.90 Advance Singles out on Sat 10th August and return on 11th August.
No splitting required.
Of course to get those fares you must commit yourself to specific trains.0 -
Don't forget the Leeds-Manchester-Birmingham route. You may have to split at Manchester.0
