T-Mobile Plan Change

Got a letter this morning informing me that they'd reviewed my price plan and have decided to change it to different one as they're scraping my current plan.

Under my new plan the monthly line rental increases from £9.99 to £14.50 ex vat. I lose 475 minutes worth of anytime/crossnetwork calls and lose all my SMS credits. The cost of calls/SMS/MMS & WAP usage is also increasing. And they say its a better plan for me!

I've already told them that i don't want this new plan but want to keep my current one for obvious reasons. I've just renewed (01/04) my 12 month contract with them and if they'd told me then that they'd be changing my plan then i wouldn't have renewed.

Anyone got any info on where i stand with this?

Which plan are you on now?

If they wont budge then I'd say you have an excellent case for cancelling your contract early due to unreasonable change of T&C ... seem to recall LOADS of people getting out of Orange contracts when they started charging for 0800 numbers.

I agree you now have an excellent case as they've changed the t&c to a really unreasonable tariff. Threaten to cancel the contract because of severe changes to the t&c that actually means you lose out on a lot to the tariff you were on.

They may try and say you have no choice but just stick to your guns, and threaten to cancel but speak with a manager/supervisor if necessary.

You'll find they'll most prob keep you on it until your 12 months is up.

A similiar thing happend to a few friends of mine who are still on an old o2 tariff (they no longer do it now). They were told of the change tariff but all argued and threatened to cancel under unfair t&c. o2 caved in and kept them on it. They're still on it now. They know that if they change price plans they can't move back again.

Remember, the plan you're on now is not the one you signed upto.

    number 3 and 4.

Looks like you can cancel if they change the agreement and your not happy with it.
  • Thanks for the replies.

I'm waiting on them getting back to me about what charges, if any, i'll incur if i cancel.

Already spoke to Ofcom and they say there's nothing they can do and that its not the first time T-Mobile have done this.

If you're cancelling because of the tariff change then they're breaking the t&c and therefore you WONT have to pay any cancellation charges. If they say otherwise just refuse to pay.

If they offer to keep you on the same tariff as you're on now and you say no and still want to cancel then that's a different matter and they can charge you a fee (which would normally be equal to the line rental charges upto the end of your contract).
