Birmingham Yardley Travelodge and NEC

Hi,
We are off to the NEC next weekend, staying in the Travelodge at Birmingham Yardley. Two adults and two children.
I just wondered if anyone could recommend the best way to get between the two - drive and pay for parking, or is there public transport? I think it is about 5 miles so walking home is a bit much for the 8 and 6yr old.
Also, is the Travelodge in an area where we can walk to somewhere family friendly for breakfast and tea (other than the MacDonalds which is the only thing I can find on the Travelodge website.)
Many, many thanks in advance.
Mrs Alfie

The 900 airport bus has a stop on Coventry Road near the Travelodge and has a stop near the NEC. Runs every 15 minutes and takes 20-ish.
No idea on fares
Found this online - no idea what it's really like:

If you walk to the A45 to catch the 900, then you'll see some local cafes/chains around there. I drive through that part of the A45 about once a month, and lots of food outlets visible from the car.
However, if nowhere takes your fancy, there is a wetherspoons at the NEC which does a pretty good breakfast.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
