I was looking on line today as my bt line is due to expire and I stumbled across a bt 'basic' package which is aimed at those on low income benefits such as
ESA income related
JSA
Pension credit
Couple other so please check.
Anyhow I read it is as its £14.85 for 3MONTHS! There is no free evening and weekend calls but you get £4.50 of free calls.
For anyone who has a phone line for the Internet then this will help loads!
I can't claim it as not on benefits but I am annoyed at bt as she has been with them for a while , they have her dob so pretty obvious her age, why they have never asked her when she renewed about getting this basic package! Unbelieve!
Anyhow , hope this helps someone. Xx

Its been discussed many times MSE mentions it here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/home-phone-calls don't see any other provider offering a social tariff like it other then BT do you ?
Who has been with them for a while ? and how would they know what benefits they are on.
Its worth noting
You cant use another supplier to place calls.
You can only take any one of the standard BT Total Broadband only options (BT Basic customers aren’t eligible for the combined Broadband and Calls packages).

How does BT knowing her DOB make them miraculously aware of her income or benefits status? On that basis the Queen would also potentially qualify, and BT really should have contacted her sooner...
BT Basic is fine (if you qualify) until you go over the very limited calls allowance-then it becomes very expensive. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Remember the golden rule on here - it's always someone else's fault!0 -
With BT, it usually is! Though in this case I'd generously give them the benefit of the doubt. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

How am I blaming them!? I was saying someone over 60 is usually on pension credit so it wouldn't have harmed to have asked - so wind your neck in.
I posted as it may of been useful for someone who is on benefits.
If you got nothing nice to say them don't say anything!

What proof do you have that people over 60 usually claim pension credit out of interest ?
I can see you were trying to be helpful but the impression I got was you had missed something out of your original post, and was whingeing about BT when their was no need to.:D0 -
