Tree Outside Needs Cutting No Help from Council

Hi Guys,

Am not sure if this is the right section but here goes,

I have this huge tree outside my house and we want to remove it for many reasons, firstly It blocks the light in to front room and upstairs room also the pigeon who sit on there make so much crap on the fllors its awful all over my front garden also we have permits on our road but we can't park outside due to the damage to the cars.

I have tried to contact the council but not much help really..

Is there anything else I can do

Who owns the land on which the tree stands?
If the tree is not on your land, but the branches are over-hanging your property, you have the right to cut the overhanging branches back to the property boundary.

So what did the council say when you contacted them about this tree?

Write to them by snail mail. Your letter will at least be logged and they will respond.

If it was me, I'd also send them a letter, listing the issues and confirming your acceptance of their offer to inspect, to help them to not forget ;)

At the risk of saying something unpopular, why do you think the council should spend money in doing this (assuming it is on their land)?

Presumably the tree was there when you moved in?

Councils have such limited funds these days, that this is likely not to appear on their priority list.

By all means write to them as others have suggested, but I'm not sure you should get your hopes up too high.

How are the council not much help when they have said they will send someone out to inspect it? They can't know the situation of every single tree in their area so of course they need to go have a look.

They may prune it back, but they won't cut it down just because of some pigeon poop.

If the council do not own the land the tree sits on then there is no point contacting the council. I've just done a quick search and there is a company called ww.xxx.co.uk that may be able to help.

    Kind Regards,
    Steven

Every post you have made here mentions the same web site. Co-incidence? I think not..
