Bus pass equality

Tried to use my English bus pass in Wales but told not possible. Is this the same for Welsh people visiting England? And what about reciprocality between the other UK nations?

Yes, England, Scotland and Wales bus pass holders can generally only use their pass in their own country.
There are slight differences, e.g. Wales residents can use a bus into England as long as the bus journey started in Wales.

Not sure what happens in Northern Ireland.
