Can I mend cracked pots ?
I've got some lovely garden terracotta pots but one has a crack in it - it's still in one piece but it's s*ds law that it will break apart just after I've planted it up and fixed it to the fence
What's the best (if there are any) glue stuff I could wipe along the crack to hold it together ? Does anyone have any other solutions ?
Also one of those terracotta feet thingies you can stand pots on has broken in half and I'm looking to stick it together.
Thanks
Linda xx

I'm not sure that you can really repair terracotta pots. Even if you could I doubt it would be frost-proof which is probably what cracked it in the first place.
It might be worth trying superglue but then just put a cheap plastic pot inside it as I think the damp compost would probably just push the crack apart again.
It might be worth posting this again on the Gardening thread as some on there may have some better ideas.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I have, with superglue.
A tall thin pot which broke into three. It was a decent repair, the crack still visible.
Till the next strong wind ( I never buy tall thin pots now!)0 -
I repair them frequently. I use the waterproof PVA adhesive from builders merchants 'cos it's cheap and effective. You can use rope to bind the top of a pot for extra strength and, if done well, it can look wonderfully rustic. Mine are, unfortunately, not done well, as I have the artistic skill of Tracy Emin
I've got pots that have been repaired for more than five years, and they are still going strong.0 -
I put a couple of loops of wire round cracked pots, it means I'll get another season or two out of them. Or if one has cracked diagonally I'll part bury it to use as a herb planter, it looks nice to have herbs spilling out the side of a pot.Val.0

Not sure about fixing them, but here is a lovely use for broken terracotta pots:
