Norwegian currency.

I am going on a cruise round the Norwegian fjords and the currency on the ship is £s plus I am going all inclusive.

Special offer £10 per person per night.

I usually have that spent by lunch time.

Should I get Norwegian currency for going ashore on trips or just use my credit/debit card?

I would imagine the only thing I will be buying ashore are souvenirs or the occasional drink, unless I can smuggle a vodka and coke ashore:rotfl:

Must remember to take empty bottles:rotfl:

I will probably be going on the ship's excursions as having never been to Norway I haven't a clue where to go.

Though I shall be looking into all this.
Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:

  • We have just come back from a Norwegian cruise and everthing on the ship was in £, On two trips coffee and waffles were included so that sorted lunch for us, in Bergan we walked back to the ship at lunchtime so that was a free lunch, the fernicular railway in Bergen asked if we were seniors and as we were they gave us half price tickets, so although it it is a very expensive country we hardly spent anything. We didnt take much but came back with 70%. Coffee was about £3, icecream £4-50, Pint £12 to £15

You might want to ask your card issuer
to raise your credit limit then.

Would you recommend the excursions or is there a lot to do by yourself?

We will be in 4 ports.

So should I take £100 worth of kroner or would that be too much for a couple of OAPs?

will £10,000 limit be enough do you think?

"Rounds" is an alien concept to people in Norway. I was was invited to go out drinking when on a business trip to Oslo. Everyone paid for one beer themselves then went home. I did offer to buy everyone another drink (on expenses of course) but they all thought I was insane and trying to bribe them.

Fortunately I found a cheap bar where it was only £6 a pint - and that about 8 years ago.

Bergen is easy on your own, Bryggen , the funicular, and the fish market are not far apart.Flam a bit more difficult as there is not alot there except for the railway but that is beautiful I would think on a nice day, we had rain ,sleet and snow. Expensive but wonderful views. As it was raining we never saw the village very much.Geiranger was really nice to wander around on you own but I expect your trips will take you up the hair pin bends to a viewpoint at the eagles bend and then we came back and did the same on the other side of the valley, I think a must if you enjoy photography. The other places you are going to we never went there. I hope the waterfalls are still going when you get there as we caught them as the snow melted. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.We had £80 of Kroner and £65 came home but we do not buy presents
