Voluntary Work

I currently work on a part time basis as self employed but I'm going to start some irregular voluntary work. Sometimes it will be full days and sometimes it will be half days.
I'll be reinbursed for expenses such as travelling costs etc.
Do I need to inform HMRC that I'm doing more work (even though I won't be paid) and that I'll be receiving expenses?

For income tax? Depends on your expenses. If say 45p per mile no, if benefit on kind then yes. Most are simply costs so no for tax.
Or did you mean tax credits.0 -
Sorry I meant for tax credits. I believe they give 50p per mile for travelling expenses.0

And the hours you work are not counted as 'remunerative work' so you can't count them in reaching the hours requirements for Working tax Credit.

Pray tell me what was wrong with my post this time. They asked about expenses and Tax credits and I posted the answer. So why re quote like that. Perhaps next time you will read the link and not quote as it now looks like I posted something wrong when I did not.0

Nothing at all this time. You answered the part about income I answered about hours. I quoted and started with AND so the OP would know to take account of yours and mine.
And if you're referring to my comment from the other day, you gave the wrong information I pointed it out. It wouldn't be fair to do otherwise as the OP could have taken wrong action as a result.
