Can Anyone Tell Me If I Have Been Underpaid?

Hi All

I am a single Mum of 1 working full time, since April 2012 my tax credits award has been 34 pounds per week, about 2 months ago it dropped to 27 per week.
I can't remember what I put in for my forecasted earmings for the period and as I have a basic plus commission it is difficult to be accurate, however I have recently used an online calculator and taken my gross earning for the year from my P60 which was 19,750- the calculator tells me I should have been getting around 60 pounds per week - can anyone tell me if this is right and if I will be able to claim any underpayment back and if so, how to go about it?

thanks in advance

Lucy

P.S. - sorry for the absence of pound signs - my keyboard was purchased abroad :)

Tax credits are an annual award. You can't compare your actual weekly payments with those predicted by the calculator.

What you need to do is have a look at your last award notice and say what the annual amount is.

Also, if you don't know what income figures you gave to tax credits then it isn't comparing like for like.

Finally, tax credits depend on your income for previous year and current year. So you can't just use one year's income figure, that might not be the right one.

Edited to add, when you do your renewal and give your P60 figure they will calculate any underpayment automatically.
