Has anyone booked a last last min sun beach holiday (within a wk or less of flying)

Hi guys,

I am currently saving for a house deposit with my gf, so to go anywhere this year is a bonus. We are saving a substantial amount each month - In all honesty we are quite spoilt when it comes to hols too.... Am i right in thinking holiday makers will slash their prices on what they have left to sell, to sell them without losing money. So if we leave it till 1 week or less of flying away they will be dirt cheap?

I wanted to know whether anyone has done this recently and grabbed a bargain for fraction of the price. I am aware there will be less to choose from and minimal flexibility. I just wanted to know how close to leave it?
