We have not recieved any money as yet and i have not had the death certificate to inform DWP of her death as she has to have a PM.0

I'm sorry for your loss.
When did she go into hospital? You should call the DWP asap to inform them of the date she went into hospital and the fact that she has died, even if you don't have a death certificate yet.
Otherwise you may end up with an overpayment to deal with at a time when you really don't want any additional stress.0 -
Im sure theres a grant you can apply for from the DWP to help with funeral costs0

she was only in hospital for 9 days and they have been informed of that fact as she has spent less than 28 days in hospital it wont affect her DLA. I wont get an overpayment as the will have certification tomoorow or tuesday of her death and her dla is not due till the week after and is paid in arrears. Its the outstanding arrears of DLA and Carers allowance i am more concerned about will i still recieve them. The funeral grant was fixed in 2003 and will only cover about 40% of total costs since that date funeral costs have risen by 71%. CAB figures0

I have been told i will carry on recieving Carers allowance for 8 weeks from the first Sunday after her death. But not recieved any yet i find that a bit pointless also been told it might be 08/07 before i get any money off them.0

I am very sorry to hear of your loss.
I can see no reason why you will not receive the backdated DLA.
l understand that the funeral grant will not cover all of the expenses but it is certainly worth applying for.
There is a very useful guide here:
http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/benefits_e/benefits_help_if_on_a_low_income_ew/help_for_people_on_a_low_income_-_the_social_fund_and_other_welfare_schemes.htm
Funeral directors are very used to circumstances such as these so if you have a word with them they will be able to help you make a payment plan so that you can pay when you receive the backdated money etc.
Edit: Sorry, meant to post this link:
