If only it weren't 15% more expensive than shopping elsewhere, it might just be worth it:D0

I've just completed on my first property today :j and so will have lots of DIY to do:eek:
any thoughts on where is cheapest for paint etc.. (and don't send me to a builders merchants - scared by the very thought of it!) - I know focus do a 10% discount for people who have recently bought, and there is the 10% off at homebase today and tomorrow - but would wickes or B&Q still be cheaper??0 -

Congratulations!
I find B&Q to be cheaper generally, but always a good idea to shop around and compare if u can since it often comes down to which store has the right special offers for u. DIY materials can add up to a lot of money....0 -
Congratulations Pooranddesperate - if you weren't before you will be from now on !

I think the key to where is cheapest is......shop around, keep your eyes and ears open, and read mse as often as possible.
Few weeks ago spotted some great reductions at Tesco on paints etc.....I never knew they did decorating stuff !!
Even seen some in Woollies etc, so as i say, keep your eyes open.
Remember some store like B&Q have discount days for pensioners - so take your grandad, elderly new neighbour etc.
Also, most stores have a clearance shelf of some description, with old shades, old wallpaper stock, dented tins etc etc. These start off with a few £ knocked off, but every-so-often they will reduce the lot to say £1. B&Q are especially good at this. Just down to timing - being in the right place at the right time, and them having what you want, or you buying what they have, cos you know you will need it soon
p.s always keep your receipt - if the colour doesn't turn out as you expected some stores will give you a refund/swap. And if you bought too much ( always advisable in my opinion) you will get a refund on anything not opened !!:T0
