Facials

I decided to get a monthly facial in countdown for my wedding in October. Had the first one yesterday afternoon and it was quite a nice experience. However, looking in the mirror at night I noticed that I still had makeup around my eyes, at the sides of my nose, and on my chin. My skin does feel nice and soft though.

What do you experts think? I would have thought a facial was a "deep clean" so shouldn't leave any make up on.

While they do cleanse your face and remove makeup as part of the facial, I can't think why anyone would go to a facial with makeup on. I like them to see what my skin is really like before they start work, and suspect they can't do that if they've had to remove makeup first, as the makeup remover may affect the skin's normal condition if that makes sense.

Sounds a bit sloppy to me but agree I wouldn't have turned up with makeup on, if you were generally happy with the treatment then just don't wear makeup next time.

I have been to facials with make up on. I have scheduled them after work appts or lunches where I would really want to wear makeup. What I try to do is make sure I am not putting make up straight back on.

Why did you decide to have your facial where you did? was it based on reviews, price, timing or was easy to get to?

If you went for a deep cleanse, even with makeup on - all of the makeup should have been removed by the therapist usually before the facial and it should have definitely come off during the facial.

A deep cleanse facial is intense on your skin - get someone who will do it right and it will show. Leading up to my big day about 10 years ago I had a facial once a month for 6 months. Took about 1 and 1/2 hour of my time but those who did not know me or see me before the day would not believe my age!

Honestly...I would call them and ask that question. Sounds like the therapist was sloppy. I go to a fab beauticians, but I know from experience to avoid one of the girls like she has the plague! To put it no finer way, she's useless! Maybe you just happened to get the useless one? Hope you manage to get it sorted. x

I often leave with mascara still on as I use hardcore mascara that doesn't come off with gentle remover. I wouldn't see it as a sign of a bad facial.

Yes but having mascara left on eyelashes is different to having makeup left around the eyes, nose and chin.

During a deep cleanse the nose and chin would get a good work out.

I firmly believe that you are not paying for the products but for the skill of the therapist to manipulate your facial skin.

The skilled hands manipulating the problem areas (around eyes, chin and nose) and thus cleansing them and helping to strenghten them would remove any trace of makeup.

Try another therapist? don't feel embarrassed to ask for a different therapist at the same place, Your right to choose who is coming into your personal space and who you are willing to trust your face to - it's usually the first thing people will notice when talking to you so is a very special piece of you :cool:.

When are you due for the next one?

I wouldn't worry about the makeup left on eyes - but the sides of my nose are where I'm most likely to get an outbreak, I'd expect and hope that to be left super-clean.

Thanks all. This is the therapist in my hairdressers and she is the only one. The beauty room is very dimly lit so she wouldn't have known I had make up on.I made another appointment for a month's time before I left but I think I'll look for somewhere else.

Any pointers on what I should look out for? The products this one used were dermalogica.
