Help with council tax

What help would be expected, if any, for a single disabled person (54)
living alone and getting the 25% discount?
Working 30 hours a week, no savings, minimum wage. Gross pay £189 a week, paying a mortgage with no mortgage help from benefits.
Council tax after 25% discount is £980 a year.
She's had three letters from the local council office with three different amounts that she is supposed to pay so is totally confused.
She has an appointment for tomorrow to sort it out but would like some information in advance of the appointment if possible.

The Government scrapped the national Council Tax Benefit scheme on the 1st April 2013 so each local authority now runs their own seperate benefit scheme with their own rules. So two people with identical circumstances could get different amopunts of help depending in which local authority they live in.These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
Get your friend to look at her web site where she pays her Council tax to. It will explain about discounts and disability and if there are any income limits etc. Once you know that then you can talk to them and get it sorted out.0
