Locking castors would still cause the bed to slide on a laminate/wooden surface when getting in and out of the bed.
If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button! ;)

Are the legs wooden? Could you just remove the castors and fittings and leave the legs? Bed would be slightly lower but there would be no costs.

Only the cost of refinishing the wooden floor which would be scratched to boogery;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Take the castors off and then put the plastic protective cups under the stumps.
Also get into bed gently , not a swan dive from the far side of the room.

It was the deep castor cups that worked for me, but then I'm not as vigourous in the bed as I used to be :rotfl:

Castors are frequently push-in, so can be pulled out with a bit of effort. If not, they are likely screwed on, in which case a screwdriver can answer your prayers.

Yep, most have "snap rings" to hold them in, they prise out easily with a long screwdriver.

The bed doesn't have legs as such, the castors are sunk in and are removable but this would leave the bed directly on the floor and would lead to the floor being scratched which I don't want.

None of the castor cups I have seen are big enough and I am not planning to give up my sex life just to keep the bed still lol!

Ideally I would like screw in legs or similar since none of the rubber options are suitable. surely this must be a common problem since carpets in every room stopped being the norm for everyone?

It is a common problem, it gets asked on here about once a month, and to be honest not only are the jokes the same but so are the answers and suggestions. I think you have exhausted them all to be honest.

Rubber matt, cork tile, floor tile, gripper matt for playrooms, even bits cut from wheel barrow inner tubes all work, castor cups don't.

You can buy turned wooden feet in various sizes, the type seen on cottage pine furniture, I have a box full of them in the garage.

Get 4 or 6 or 8 whichever it takes, screw these on to bring the bed back to the same height them stick on the rubber, (on the feet I mean), or do I after your last post :o:o;);)

Make your own. Simple open topped boxes (wood to match the floorboards perhaps) large enough to (completely) contain the castors. Stick anti-slip matting or other non slip material to the underside of them.
