I think you have to start paying these types of loan off as soon as your course ends - tricky if you haven't got a job.

It won't wait till you earn a certain amount, like the usual Student Loans do.

there just jealous chavs on there £25,000 a year

IMO You will not get funding for a 5 year course, only for a 4 year course

on that 4 year course you will have to pay the first 3465 and the rest will be paid by sfe, you will also be entitled for a maintenance loan
(only for the 1st year, the other years the NHS will pay your share and SFE will cover the rest, ie you pay nothing from 2-4)

However for the 5 year degree you will be liable for the £9,000 tution fees for 4 years then nhs will cover your last year, living costs will be covered by reduced maintenance loan

Banks have stopped the Professional development loan, and replaced it with the Career development loan

No idea why, stupidity is my guess, they loaned it out to anyone probably without assessing the investment value of the course,(ie law would be a very bad idea, medicine a very good idea to lend to)

Thanks, that is a very helpful and useful reply.

I have to agree, my friend told me he literally had nothing to provide or show as proof he would be able to afford the repayments once graduated other than the student status letter from the university. Also, in today's climate you are right, having a degree in itself does not make you able to afford repayments on a loan...

    Many thanks!
