Car towed away (not parked illegally)

Hello everyone,
I just joined today and im hoping to get some advice and input to help with my situation.

I have been parking on that same on road in the picture for many years now as one of my close friends live there and im usually very careful to make sure i dont get a ticket or clamp.

Today my car was towed by Haringey Council and i had to pay £255 to get the car back :(

Please look at the pictures below and tell me if i was in the wrong.

I tried to explain my case to the people at the pound but it was not happening as they did not care.

on the PCN it states Highway Code 28???...

I was parked infront of that light blue Ford Focus.
My car wheels were not on the pavement.
Nor was my car obstructing anything.

(seems like i cannot upload pictures, the link is below)

I thought you weren't allowed to block crossing points marked with the textured paving? Could that possibly be the reason?

Looked at your photos and nothing springs to mind except that you are opposite a road junction. How are you expected to know that there is some form of prohibition on parking on raised areas?? Is there some signage nearby ??

That said, we have nothing like that around here so you prob need someone from your area to comment.

Is that stated in the highway code?

When i went to collect my car they said because it was parked on the raised area and nothing about the textured paving.

This is the first im hearing about it :embarasse

I have checked up and down the street no signs to say you are not allowed to park on raised area.

I don't recall such a rule but it would seem to make sense, those bobbled pavers are to tell people where it's safe to cross - which wouldn't make sense if you were parked there.

But is that only at pelican or puffin crossings (highwaycode.info/rule/28)

    Have I found it?

Highway Code 243 - DO NOT stop or park ... where the kerb has been lowered to help wheelchair users and powered mobility vehicles.

The council could say that although the kerb isn't lowered (it's more that the road has been raised!), the textured pavement shows that this is a crossing point and the kerb has been 'lowered' to allow wheelchair users to cross there.

Pepipoo is the best place for reliable advice.
  • But on the PCN it states "Contravention Code 28"...
  • id hazard my bet on the fact that you parked on a junction...
