Do I still need to pay Class 2 NI?

I'm self employed and currently paying Class 2 NI contributions. It's not a huge amount, but as the saying goes, every little helps.

I filled out the HMRC form and today received my NI record that states I have paid 35 years NI contributions in full. So my questions are:

1) Do I still need to pay NI. I'm 52 and have worked since leaving school.
2) The statement only shows back to 1980 and therefore only shows 33 years, but the letter clearly shows 35 years fully paid up.
3) If the Government change the rules in the future like they did recently (increase to 35 years from 2016) would I be likely to get caught in a 'not fully paid up' trap s it's no doubt applied retrospectively?

The letter they sent doesn't give sufficient info and is obviously aimed at people who haven't paid enough and want to possibly top it up.

Any sage advice appreciated.
