If it's for going to concerts ect..then I use these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alpine-Music-Safe-Filter-Plugs/dp/B000VO8PR0/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1368736494&sr=8-8&keywords=ear+plugs
Although, you can pay a lot more to have them specially made to fit you ears.0 -
For sleeping at night, it hadn't occurred to me that I would want them for anything else.
Yes I have heard custom made are the best, but I have no idea where to look, I will think about getting custom made earplugs in the next few months.0 -

My wife says the ones I got her from Superdrug are the best she has ever used.
Link to ear plugs
She uses them for sleeping (so she can't hear herself snoring I think!
) I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
You can buy make your own kits on ebay. I've got some and they are super comfortable and don't get pulled out, unlike the commercial ones. However they don't block noise out as efficiently. They're also washable. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

I have some Superdrug foam ear plugs, which I tried using recently. I had a horrible headache and the workmen over the road were drilling the road and I just wanted to block the noise out! It got rid of some of the sound but I wouldn't say it made that much difference.0

Oh..if you need some for sleeping in then these are great:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alpine-EARSLEEP-Sleep-Soft-Earplugs/dp/B001APROVW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1368818396&sr=8-5&keywords=ear+plugs+sleeping
They don't block out all sounds because blocking out all noise can be a bit disorientating. Because you only need them for sleep, then I wouldn't spend money on custom made ear plugs.
You could shop around for the ones I use in case you can get them cheaper elsewhere.0 -
