Parking fine debt collection

Got a ticket fromc NCP for ovetstaying the paid time. Didn't pay fine from NCP & now received letter from debt collection agency demanding £100 for NCP and £54 for their services. I didn't get in touch with NCP, nor with debt people. Can they take this matter to court?

In theory yes they (ncp) could take it to court, in practice it's highly unlikely so just continue to ignore the debt collectors. And please don't worry about this scam industry.

You'll get a series of these begging letters, until they start offering you a reduced price deal to settle - it's all part of the game.

You paid, you left - if their ANPR says otherwise, dispute it if it ever comes to court - but other than that, ignore!

As I understand it it's not advisable to even write to them. The whole thing is sorta silly as my wife has put 2 £2 coins in & pressed on a button to get ticket. She didn't check what it said on ticket as she assumed that it was Ok, but machine must have rejected it or swallowed it, so instead of all day ticket she got 2 hour one.

Unfortunate, and clearly she'll learn from her mistake. It is not advisable to make any contact as this keep the hope alive that you care and are worth pursuit.

They could in theory but in practice NCP don't.

So many threads right now in a panic about debt recovery junk mail:

Carry on ignoring; only real sealed Court papers would be worth taking seriously.

I received this as well. Only thing is they got the name wrong in the letter AND the vehicle is owned by another person - not the person named on the letter. Not shown any of these to my partner as my partner wanted me to pay the fine when I got the NCP pcn on my windscreen for overstaying 10minutes.

If I continue to ignore the letters will thus end people round to my house?

If they send ppl to your house tell them to go away, that much I know for sure, as long as they haven't been appointed by a court. They may come knocking. Personally I am not concerned with that as much as NCP taking it to court.
