Nowtel International Calling Cards

I was hoping someone could help me out deciphering a particularly badly written T&C's:

• Minutes stated and announced include all charges (see below) and are calculated on the basis that each call is for 4 minutes. We do this because our typical customer makes 4 minute calls.

• Calls in excess of 4 minutes use 3 advertised minutes for each actual minute of that call’s duration. For example, if you call for 5 minutes we will deduct
15 minutes from your card.

So are they basically saying that a 1 minute call will be charged as if each minute were 4 minutes (until you hit four minutes where you will be charged as it were 3 minutes)? If so, that is ridiculous! So in effect the call rate is 4x (or 3x) the advertised rate!


Please tell me I'm going loopy because I have spent five hard earned British pounds on one of these cards
