Has anybody used rentalcars.com?

Hi,
I'm about to book a car for my trip in Italy, and I came across this website - it's owned by Priceline (the same that own Booking.com). I found very good rates, plus a cheap damage excess waiver.
I know it works only as a intermediate between you and the agency - has anybody got experience using this website and did you have any problems when renting?
P.S. I'm Italian so I should know how to handle with Italian agencies :rotfl:

As you probably know, car rentals are very expensive in Italy. We have been visiting for the last 20 or so years. We know.
I booked with rentalcars.com in January for a 22-day rental in August from Florence: a compact/Ford Focus for £635, which is not bad.
Just yesterday I received an email offering me an upgrade. Foolishly, I clicked to find out the cost of an upgrade only to discover that I had signed up for a car at double the cost. Angry phone calls the next morning/12 hours later: No. Rentalcars.com could not restore my original rental at £635; the same car (with Hertz) for the same period would now cost £877. OK, I will cancel. Having duped me out of my original reservation, Rentalcars.com will now charge me £30 to cancel.
I would use AutoEurope instead.
Hope this helps.Hi,

I have booked with in October for a 5-day rental in August from Florence: a compact/Ford Focus for £175. I think that the prices are really suitable for me to have in.0
