Natwest Loan DMP

Hi,

Just wanting to hear from anyone who has had a DMP with natwest loans and what happened.

I have a DMP with stepchange a few debts but two are with NW. One was a Credit Card for around £1000 and the other was a Loan circa £7000

I had a letter from Natwest saying they accepted the DMP (I assume this was the credit card although it wasnt totally clear from the letter, but havent had any communication from them other than to charge me for late payment which is a great help!)

The loan however sent me a default notice and is now asking for payment of the full ammount by 1st may other wise they will either send on to solicitors or a DCA.

So a few questions one what is the best way to respond to this (obviously in writing but what should I put?). The second thing is how likely is it they will go the court route for this ammount rather than a DCA?

In the meantime will notify stepchange about the letter

Thanks for any advice

You may have to ring Nat West and ask them to clarify.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

I have a loan and a CC with NatWest and after the first month where they added charges they stopped all interest and charges. I am on a DMP with SC too and have been for nearly two years now and NatWest haven't changed that.

I wouldn't worry about the letter it is empty threats really and different departments are involved and they don't seem to talk to each other. I would reply to the letter explaining you are on a DMP with SC which has been accepted. Even if the debt is sent onto a DCA it won't change things really as long as you keep on paying what has been agreed. I think it is very unlikely to go to court, again as long as you keep paying.

Natwest have been fine with me. My loan & current account got passed to Triton Credit Services (in house collectors) after it defaulted, totalling around £4500, and I was sent the same snot-o-gram you have received. But it was relatively straightforward to give them a call and set up a reasonable payment arrangement. All charges and interest was stopped.

Triton call me every 6 months to review my payment arrangement, other than that I get no bother from them at all. I've been dealing with them for nearly 3 years now and they have been one of the easiest to deal with. On a recent phone call, I also got offered numbers for Debt charities, asked if I needed advice on any other debts, and also offered me a settlement of 60%! Unfortunately, 60% is still over £800 so I wasn't in a position to accept, but the phone operator was very friendly and said the offer was open if I wanted to take it in future.
