I Cant believe it. MUPPET COUNCILS/GOVENMENT

I just see on Anglia TV a news item about a guy who had a water tower as a home and he put solar panals up on the roof and the council told him he's got to take them down.

this place in the middle of nowhere. 100foot high surrounded by trees in the middle of a big forrest. you cant evensee the panels from the ground. So who is he upsetting.

I thought that the govenment were trying to save the planet and get us all on board to be greener.

OH. i forgot, only the govenment can be green, we still got to do things the expencive way and blow the planet.

MUPPETS. (well i can think of stronger words but not suitable for here)

I wanted to put up solar panels in my new home to save both money and to try and do my bit, but if all im going to get is hassle then whats the point. I/we should be praised for trying to be greener not punished.

 Rant over  (for now)

Gary

It is slightly ironic that the news today is the Government are considering a White Paper of removing the requirement for planning permission for minor extensions and alterations like solar panels.

So they must have been listening to you;)

If there were no planning permission regulation the ‘muppets’ would be those who, if allowed, would disfigure our buildings even more. There are enough eyesores.

I suspect there is more to this case with the 100ft tower than meets the eye. Most buildings like you describe would be Grade 2(or even Grade 1) listed?? Getting grants toward repairs etc.

Also most councils will approve retrospective applications if the occupant had been unaware of the requirement for planning permission; provided it was a routine case where permission would have been granted.

Do you have any more details about this tower?

As I suggested it is a Victorian listed building. So he would have bought it knowing the rules - you cannot do anything to alter the outside appearance without permission. Also will no doubt have received financial assistance with restoration etc.

Have you seen the photo from the link in the post above. The panels look ghastly and totally out of keeping with the style of the building.

    Well done the council!

    Two sides to every story?

it would have looked alot better if the panel's were on the same level as the slates. then again !!!!!! is going to see up on the top of that building?
