Only one card left...

Made my final payment to my Halifax card at the weekend, my boyfriend was aghast when I told him it was for a holiday we went on over 2 years ago!!:eek:
Now only one card left, a Virgin balance of only £1000 odd which loses its 0% interest in August, but now Ive got into the habit of putting money aside for debt, I should (fingers crossed) be OK.

I used to hate that feeling of going into the bank to pay off something that I no longer have, the last few were especially trying. From now on, I'll save for the holiday, pay for it by card, but then immediately clearing the balance - its no fun otherwise!

Cannot wait til Aug - my other two cards are for day to day spends, with points & cashback reward, but are paid in full every month so will be debt free after that woohoo!!

  • Well done, that's impressive.
It's amazing when you look into what the debt is actually for!

Our "old" debt was been paid off a while ago, we're just ploughing through )% credit cards of much newer debt. Our oldest now is for our wedding rings, which we do use every day still. haha.

Good luck in getting that £1,000 put aside for your 0% deadline.

I know exactly what you mean, although it's not just paying off things you no longer have it's also, not remembering what you bought, losing, breaking, or lending (never to get back) the things you bought. The things becoming outdated and need upgrading/replacing, selling things bought expensively, very cheaply on ebay, (because you only get one seller interested or you get the pricing/postage costs wrong). Also, buying cheap tat in the first place because it was on offer, only to realise that you've paid full price for it a hundred times over because you didn't pay off you CC balance in full! Select applicable or all the above.

My ridiculous purchases include a car I bought before I passed my test that got stolen. Stuff from Claire's accessories and a holiday from Kuoni, only to find that every British person at the hotel got their holiday much cheaper from Thompson... and so it goes on.
