Idiots at airport security delaying everyone

Last week I was flying back from Italy, and a woman in her 20's kept everybody waiting. She had a huge trolley case, coat (despite being 15 degrees), handbag, laptop bag and camera. Of course instead of being prepared before she got to the front, she waited right until the last moment to take her belt off/shoes off/ laptop/liquids out of her trolley case and then spent 2 minutes looking for her sunglasses case! At the other end of the scanner she then proceeded to take all her belongings back/put belt on etc. holding up everyone else's trays. There were plenty of free tables nearby for her to do this instead.

Why can't we have a slow lane for idiot passengers at airport security? If airlines enforce hand luggage limits and everyone was prepared before they get to the front there would be a lot less congestion and missed flights!

  • I agree with you if only they would get prepared, it is the same at supermarkets when people seem suprised they have to pay

I have never understood why people in the queue cannot spend their time transferring keys, coins, wallets, phones etc to their coat pockets. They can then put their coat in the box and walk through problem-free.

Instead.... they get to the belt put their coins at the bottom of their tray. As a coin is always missed so they set off the alarm, so end up going backwards and forwards 7 times. Then, when they get to the other side, it takes them 5 minutes to scoop up all their coins.

Also... liquids. The rule has been in place for 10 years or so, yet people still seem surprised that:
    - it applies to them however much they promise their liquid is safe,
    - it applies even if they promise there is less than 100ml left in their 200ml bottle,
    - it applies even if their perfume is expensive!

Haha, that's a pet peeve of mine too :) Only thing worse are people blocking the aisle for everyone while they take of jackets, look through their books/snacks/drinks, argue over who in the party sits where, etc.

Last weekend at IAD a guy ahead of us seemed surprised when he was 'relieved of' a 14 inch wrench he had in his carry-on (he seemed to think that because it was still sealed in the packaging he bought it in, that he should be able to take it on board).

I was so distracted (entertained) by watching him that I failed to remove my plastic bag of liquids from my handbag when I put it in the tray (:o only realised when I was removing it from the tray at the other end) but no-one noticed, or if they did they didn't care.

Or the people who stop when they reach the top of the escalators then look around as if confused as finding themselves there

How about people at the 'Bag Drop' desks who have to stand there and ask every question they can think of to the agent, write out and tie on baggage tags when they get to the front of the queue, ask to change seats, if they can have a vegetarian meal, what films are shown on board etc etc.

People who do that are annoying yes. I was stuck behind someone doing that in February.

I don't see what's weird about wearing a coat in 15c though. That's not that warm! I've been wearing a light coat all weekend in that weather.
