Unless I am missing the point the OP intended to say that Osborne has had a bad week, in particular arising from the IMF statements and the Fitch decision, and was asking if the reason he was crying was sadness over the MrsT's death or for reasons connected to the economy as per the link he posted.

As I say, I cannot see this is off topic. Or indeed why you want to speak about the SWP's alleged attitude to equality issues.
Thanks Bob....exactly right. I was just drawing the link between Osborne's appearance and the news in the article. Probably a bit too subtle for some on here?;)

I was no fan of Margaret Thatcher, but I find it upsetting that people wait til now to pour scorn, at the end of the day she was a frail old lady that died, cant we just say RIP.

Starting planning 6 years ago. So was totally cynical.

And today's media bought it hook line and sinker.

I for one have always been critical of Thatcher as PM so I have not waited till now to pour scorn on her. But I do agree that at the end of the day she was a frail old lady with a debilitating condition. In fact I made such a comment about the Meryl Streep film since I though it was in poor taste to make the film in her lifetime.

I think the reason why people found it difficult just to say RIP
was the fact that her supporters failed to understand that many people disliked her. Yet they sought to make her sound as if she were a saint, loved by the whole nation, and chose to re-write history. Had they had an untelevised, private funeral this would not have happened
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

It's hugely patronizing & downright ignorant to presume to know why anyone cries at a funeral. They affect different people in different ways & the fact is no-one here has a clue what George Osborne might have been thinking or feeling.

    I do as well!

I think politicians used it to see how popular they were and what people really thought of them - could really do with it back!!
