Reuse your carrier bags and claim Airmiles? Tesco's Twisted Logic

How come Tescos encourages its customers to cash in Cubcard points for Airmiles? See the offer here: http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/product.aspx?R=236

So, let me get this right. Tescos gives me Green Clubcard points for reusing plastic bags and buying eco-friendly products. It will then add them to my ordinary Clubcard points. It then puts me in a position to increase carbon emissions with air journeys?

Where's the logic in that? Are they cynical, hypocritical or just plain daft?

Is it just me?

Kay

    I'd not thought of that.

Perhaps they should consider your green points value when you request deals.

But you might have flown anyway- carrier bags are more than their carbon footprint, they get into waterways and kill wildlife who think they are food and of course take up space in landfill.

I agree though- it is a bit daft!!

I'd suggest not using the clubcard points as airmiles and exchanging them for something a bit greener- not the days out watching racing cars either;)

Good idea, ailuro. :T There's no way I would think about a needless air journey.

I rarely shop at Tescos, to be frank. I've just traded in some Nectar points for a water siphon thingy. I can stick the end into the sink or bath, attach it a hose pipe, pump it a few times and it sends the water straight to one of my water butts. Fantastic! There are lots of green rewards on the site, too:

If you have no nectar points you can buy a similar syphon at most pet stores-used for cleaning out fish tanks.cheaper, and are very easy to use.:D

The water green thing costs 19.99 here's a link to the kind of thing I mean- http://www.edirectory.co.uk/pf/880/mia/d/gravel+cleaners+syphons+easy+clean+gravel+cleaner+small/pid/5165649

Poundland had drill operated pumps for ,yup, you guessed it,a pound, the other week-attach to a bit of hose and make a handle to turn to get it started,if you're handy.
