Hello All,
I have recently come to the realisation that my marriage ia failing. I dont have anything in my own name in terms of bank accs. I have joint acc with my husband, but am aware of the need for my own. I am not working so am unable to meet criteria for a current account. I would prefer to bank online so my husband sees no statements etc as it will make him cross. Is there one bank or building society that rates well for this sort of thing?
Many Thanks,
Allison.

I use/have used Nationwide, Halifax, Barclays and Lloyds. All have very good online facilities. Although I think it is the norm today to have good online banking . You could take your pick of any bank/bs and probably get a good online service. And they are all trying to go paperless..0

Even with online banking you will still get some things through the post. Not sure if this will matter to you or not...?student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0

Halifax you can make almost completely paperless. I have only had the odd letter from them through the post which have just been advertising services.0

smile is wholly internet based, apart from if you have to sign a credit agrrement.0

...been with them for nearly 10 years now, the only paper is the cheque books and postage paid paying in envelopes. Usual array of services so you will have ATM/Debit Cards issued. Being internet based, you can operate you account from any internet PC in the world. I've done this regularly including while living in Germany.
The account can be operated over the counter in the Post Office inc on Saturdays.
Smile has never cost me a bean, in fact they have paid me to be with them since Day One.

There is an option with most bank accounts to have statements etc sent to a correspondance address, this could be a relative or friends house, I did this when my last relationship was failing as I started to save money to get out.£2 Coin Savers Club (Christmas)- £86£1 Jar (Christmas)- £29Christmas Vouchers Saved: £1450

HALIFAX should be the good choice0

A big thankyou to you all. I am just trying to wriggle the budget a bit to allow me to get something regular going into the account once open.
Thanks for your advice and help,

Halifax & Abbey are quite good for online banking services0

The only thing is with the choices given above is that most if not all require mininum funding of 1K a month. You say you are not working, do you have any money from any other sources?0
