AIC early settlement offer

Hi everyone!
I have a debt with AIC (originally from Santander) of £3100. I currently make monthly payments of £30. I'd like to make an early settlement offer at some point soon and am not sure what amount to start at. They sent me a 'special offer' back in January of £2080 to settle it, but that ran out on 31st January apparently! I have looked at the all the advice on here so far which has been really helpful, and I've found a template letter to use and know to get it all in writing, but I'm just not sure about a figure to start at. I was thinking maybe £1240 which is 40%, or should I aim lower initially and negotiate up?
Any help would be much appreciated
thank you!

What's the debt for? When was it taken out?:beer:0 -
Yes I was going to use the sample letter from there
The debt is from a credit card with Santander, it's from 4 or 5 years ago (I'm not at home so not got the paper work to check exactly).Total debts April 2013: £23,389.01

Start at 20-25% and work up. If they have bought the debt from Santander they might have only paiid between 10-15p in the £.0
