Interesting article on BBC site www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22068429
Then the interest rates will go up.......... (remember 9%?)
What a great feeling for us all when this does eventually happen. Just the incentive we need to keep going

I am dreading interest rates going back up. With 2 mortgages it wont be fun plus I have terrible credit rating so it is hard to remortgage, get the best offers etc. Trying to hammer them down as much as possible before this happens.0

I'm working hard now to hammer mine down as much as possible so I can get in a better LTV for next November when my current deal ends. I'm hoping the market stays stagnant until then so I can get a better rate than 6%.
Its worth everyone protecting their circumstances as much as possible. I'm planning on loans finishing mid year next year which will free up some more cash. It all helps with peace of mindMFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
Its my biggest driver - esp seeing my parents really struggle in the 80's when the rates went up to 15% or something crazy - I would lose my house if that happened!Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k
Savings: £3k
Aim: 100k by Dec 20210 -
I think we'll have a few years yet but I've been looking for something to kick-start my interest. I can't be bothered with 'daily clicks' and 'washing gloop' (although I know it works for a lot of people). I need 'bigger things'.
We are virtually mortgage free, with about 20K to go (up north so not that spectacular) and with low interest rates we are going to tick along for now and keep some savings. Were saving for a deposit/cash buy after losing two 'dream homes'. We can't go through that stress again so want to be a position to buy without being gazumped/getting a crap buyer who messes us about then pulls out etc etc.
The recovery will have to come sometime. House prices and int. rates will go up and I wonder what this thread will look like then...0
