I've just had my first Nationwide CC bill. I'm making use of the 0% but want pay a bit more than the minimum payment that will be taken by DD. I know there's some debate about whether this is necessary, but it seems sensible to me. However, the bill says:
Your Direct Debit of £25.00, less any interim payments, will be collected on April 29, 2013.
Does the "less any interim payments" mean that if I pay an extra £1 they will only take £24 by DD? If so, is there a way of being sure that I pay more? I can pay close to the 29th and hope that it's too late for the DD to be changed, or I can pay £26 a bit earlier and hope that the DD isn't taken but there's uncertainty with both methods.

Pay the extra after the Direct Debit is taken but before the next statement is produced. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

Set up a standing order to go out on the same day as the direct debit.0

I pay any extra by faster payments the day my dd comes out. It's always worked for meDEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0

Well i took advantage of the 0 percent offer and only pay the min amount and this not because I can only afford to but any extra I put into my savings account and that way I earn a little interest.0 -

It's only that some people on here have suggested that it's worth paying an extra pound or so to avoid getting minimum payment markers on your credit file. My impression is that the majority think this isn't necessary with 0% deals but I would rather not take the chance for the sake of a pound a month.0 -
I agree. Although ours is on 0% i always overpay by £5 pm, just in caseDEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0

You can pay a set amount by d/d, it doesn't have to be minimum or full. IIRC I did mine via online banking.0

Thanks, that's what I've ended up doing. I didn't occurred to me initially because I'm used to cards where the minimum payment varies quite a lot from month to month and I only want to pay a little bit more than the minimum. However with the Nationwide card the minimum will be £25 every month so it's a nice solution.
Thanks guys!:)0
