Alliance & Leicester closed account

Guys,
Had a few debt problems there and Alliance and Leicester closed my current account so I was paying them off my overdraft. I had written a few cheques that cleared it about three months ago but they never cashed them. A debt collectino agency rang and I paid them with my maestro card. After stopping the cheques at my bank the A&L cashed one and now owe me £67.55.
My savings account with A&L is still open anyone know if I will be able to get my current account opened again???
I actually have been turned down for other bank accounts to open as my credit score is not that good and dont think reapplying will open my account.
Any advice is much appreciated?

Cheers

    Hi

Its propbably best to open a new account else where. You will probably need to get a basic account. eg Co-op cashminder or Natwest Step account.

Have you asked for your money back from A&L and cancelled anyother cheques they haven't cashed?

See I was duped my a company to apply for an IVA. Didnt know about all these forums that would ahve advised me differently so before it went through I cancelled the IVA and set up my own repayment schedules. But the company told me to cut ties with bank that I was in and move to a different one. I actually liked banking with A&L. I had cancelled the cheques so ringing mmy bank now to rare up. Only cleared this morning after three months so will get onto them this afternoon about getting cash back. I only have a maestro card and would like a debit card but Bank of Ireland which I am do not do them.
