Need advice on renew/repair of conservatory floor (PICS)

Bought a place last year with a conservatory which was floored with awful cheap laminate, so I budgeted to replace.

Anyhow, started to probe a bit today and found that the laminate (and foam sheet) have been layed over the original floor. This has been damaged in a least one place, probably to allow C/H pipes to go in.

Anyhow, just wondering how MSE peeps would tackle this.

1) Recover with 7mm oak laminate

2) Sand and restore the original floor, filling the saw cuts etc. I've taken an edge on pic, which seems to show this is 'engineered' planking with 3mm of wood on top. I think it would need a chunky 30mm*15mm wooden bead all around to hide the discoloured edges.

3) Rip out and lay new 25mm engineered boards across the joists.

  • I'd lay an engineered hard wood floor.

Are you sure it's engineered? The knot in the edge on pic goes through the whole depth of the floor as it would in a solid floor. If it was an engineered floor, the knot would only show in one strata.

If it's solid, I would opt for sanding and re varnishing or waxing and repairs as necessary.
