Walkup flight costs and not using return portion

Which airlines penalise for not using return portions of tickets, and is this legal.
I asked about a walkup fare recently when the Eurostar was broken, and the return ticket was £150, but the one way was £325.
I use the iphone BA app and it usually gives good value, but realy the cheapest fare.
Is there an app or site that gives this info. I'm interested in "cheapest" fares, but walk up or day before fares, and I try and avoid easyjet, or Ryan.

Their computer software systems are programmed to identify what they call 'fare abusers' and to block you from doing this, but they may only be interested in those that do it regularly.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

what you are referring to is "throwaway ticketing" many airlines call it a breach of fare rules in their Ts&Cs and may even go as far as to say they will recalculate the revised fare and charge the difference but it is unlikely this happens0

For regular abusers it is likely to happen, that's who they're interested in. You just have to decide if you aren't going to risk being a 'fare abuser' on a regular basis.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
People have legitimate reasons for not taking the return flight, so if it happens occasionally you won't be penalised.
However the one way ticket would have entitled you to a full refund if 5 minutes after booking the Eurostar had started walking again whereas the "cheap" return ticket would have been "use it or lose it" with only a refund of taxes.0
